Some Unfinished Buisness

Jenn asked for a picture of my "new" couch awhile ago, like over a month ago when I purchased it. I am just now getting around to taking and posting pictures of it.

Please ignore the pile of clean laundry, I know I am. :P
Damn that wall is bare! It used to house everything on the opposite wall, but I get bored and move things around every few months. I really should put it back, but I really can't now, the couch works perfectly in that corner and won't on the other wall.

Also ignore the cat fur on the chaise, that's BC's favorite spot and I forgot to vacuum there when I vacuumed today.

K brought me a wonderful present from her sil Marie from Memarie Lane. I had dumped a bunch of my baby clothes off on her, I mean gave, I gave a bunch of baby clothes to her. :P I am just glad they can go to a good home where they are wanted, needed, or appreciated. I spent a ton of money on baby clothes and it's nice to know who they go to, usually I just give them to Goodwill. And as a nice surprise, totally unnecessary but appreciated nonetheless, she sent a bunch of her handmade hairbows to me. Aren't they just the cutest? You can't really appreciate the cuteness with out clicking on the picture for the original size.

Today is going to be busy and stressful, I am taking Aidan and Sophia to the dentist. Aidan has major dental issues, not cavities, but a narrow palette with extra teeth. We will find out exactly how many extra teeth she has and discuss the plan of action. Her dentist has previously told us it's going to take years to fix her problems and cost us $3000 out of pocket. Lucky us. I had a narrow palette too, but we had it spread with a retainer. My dad had extra teeth but my grandma said they fell out on their own, weird. I swear to you the first visit we had with the dentist he kept saying "Huh, I have never seen this before" or "Huh, this is interesting." Not good things to hear from the dentist. I am not looking forward to this visit, he is doing a panoramic x-ray of her mouth, insurance only allows two of these in your lifetime. You know what the worst part of this all? It had to be Aidan, the most dramatic, unreasonable child we have. Wish me luck!

Friend or Foe?

At soccer practice last night instead of sitting in the van, I decided Delilah and I would walk. Lilly plays on a field near the airfield here on post. There is a long, flat stretch of road right along the field. So I spent the 60mins walking it, back and forth. I started out slowly, because I was chatting on my cell phone (I always am). But the only one I could get on the phone was my mil and she was about to make dinner. That conversation was only 15mins long. I tried K but she was "taking a nap", cry baby. ;P So instead I walked faster.

After practice I was trying to corral Lilly, since she lost her mind and was lolly gagging. As I was walking over to get her this other mom says "I saw you walking, I am so impressed!"

What.Do.I.Do.With.That?

She either:

A: Was impressed a short fat girl can walk that fast/far or for that long.

B: Was trying to encourage me to keep up the fat fight.

or

C: She was trying to hint to me that she would like to be my walking buddy next practice or making polite conversation trying to make friends.

I would think A or B, because I tend to be socially inept and have no idea when people are trying to befriend me, just ask K. But the optimist in me says C. Oh well, I won't think too much of it.

By the way: Congratulations to K's sil Marie over at MeMarie Lane! She's having a girl!

Picking Baby Names

Marie over at MeMarie Lane posted How to Find the Perfect Name and it inspired me to share how we picked our daughters names. And Marie is very right, you have to decide beforehand how the names will be chosen, who has first say, and who has final say. In our family I did the picking, but my husband had veto power. I figured I had to do all the hard work carrying, birthing, and caring for the baby, I damn sure better be the one to name it.

For Lillyanna Margaret we had two names picked before she was born. We didn't know what she would be so we had boy and girl names picked out, for months. For a girl Lilas Annette and for a boy Benton David. How? then did we end up with Lillyanna Margaret you ask. Well, my mother and father hated the names we picked out and they wore me down over months of relentless teasing and picking at our names. I kept my ground until I looked at Lilly, and while we were in the room after she was born my mom finally suggested Lillyanna Margaret. I finally relented and changed my mind saying tearfully to Kale, "She looks like a Lilly." BTW Lillyanna means Gracious Flower, Anna=Gracious Lilly=Flower. Oh and Margaret is Kales grandmas name.

For Aidan RoseLynn I only had a boys name picked out. Assuming that since I already had a girl I would most likely get a boy next. WRONG! Since my ultrasound was scheduled so late into my pregnancy (6mths!) I just "knew" I was having a boy. This was the only time I would ever "guess" the sex of my baby before hand, I was wrong and I HATE being wrong. So I had only one name picked out Aidan Lynn for a boy. When I found out she was a girl I modified it after one of Kales friends suggested Aidan made a pretty name for a girl. So boom, I added Rose to Lynn and I had Aidan RoseLynn. BTW Aidan is celtic and means little fiery one, fiery and BOY is she. Oh and Lynn is my dad and my mil's middle names and Rose comes from one of my very favorite exchange students that lived with us at the time Aidan was born.

For Sophia Grace I only had that name picked out. Simple, I loved it and still do hers is my favorite of all their names. When my moms friend (an ultrasound tech) did an early scan for me to determine the sex, she said to me "Oh, I don't want to tell you now." I could already see that she was a girl and said back to her "That's okay I wouldn't have known what to do if she had been a boy. I only have a girl name picked out." BTW Sophia is Greek meaning wisdom.

Delilah Annette was hard to pick out. I had been suggesting this name every pregnancy and was shot down because of its stigma. Finally after four children I said ENOUGH I am naming her Delilah and anyone who doesn't like it can Kiss.My.Ass. BTW Delilah is hebrew meaning delicate or feminine. Oh and Annette is my mothers middle name.

My MIL has suggested many many many stupid, awful, horrid names, here are a few:
Marigold, Pollyanna, Loucetta, Iris, Mildred (no kidding). Those are the worst ones. She named her children Kyla and Kale, why on earth is she suggesting such awful names. I kept having to remind her that she had her chance to name HER kids and it was MY turn.

Also, for the life of me I cannot explain why I let my parents railroad me on my choices. I chalk it up to being young and stupid.
