Scared to Death!

This past weekend Lilly, Sophia, Judy (MIL), and I went shopping. We stopped at Panera Bread (love that place) for lunch. After lunch Sophia had to go potty and wouldn't let Judy take her, so I did. After I was already in the restroom with her, Judy came in without Lilly. I personally don't think 8yr olds need to be left alone at a table, so I tried to hurry Sophia and get back out to Lilly. Of course Sophia couldn't make it easy on me, I don't know how but she arched her pee to go over the rim and into her pullup, all over her pants, and on the floor. UGH! So I get it cleaned up and head out to find Lilly.

As I am walking to the table I become panicked, she's not there! I am trying to keep my composure in a store full of people, but am losing it quickly. I am just about to start screaming her name when I reach the table, look down, and see her ducked underneath the table. I lost it, I couldn't help myself but to swat her. And my children very very rarely get into enough trouble to warrant a swat. She scared the shit out of me, I was nearly in tears. She didn't say a word, normally when I have disciplined her she will cry. She knew better this time. I wanted to lose it on Judy too, but I kept my cool and let Kale handle that one when we got home. BTW I also was yelled at by him also for leaving her alone, even though technically it wasn't me, BUT she is my kid and I am responsible for her.

The last time I was this scared was when Lilly was two and my MIL "misplaced" her at Seaworld. She was damn lucky we found her so quickly. And that time David (my FIL) took care of yelling at her for us. She has also misplaced Aidan in Walmart when she was 4 and lost her own daughter in Sears when she was 3. And when I mean lost, I mean locked down the whole store and searched every rack of clothing. Needless to say I am always a little worried when she has the girls alone.
