Knitting with Grammie

So low and behold Grammie actually did something with the girls she promised she would. She tried to teach them how to knit with these knitting rings. Lilly picked it up well, but Judy wasn't sure of how to do it. So it didn't turn out. Aidan tried for 2 minutes and quit, it was "TOO HARD" she said crying. She gives up very easily, Judy said Kale did too when he was little. My mom wouldn't let me quit anything without seeing it trough first. If I didn't like it after I tried for a session or season then I never had to do it again. But I had to try. Her favorite saying was "Can't was killed in the battle of try." I hate that saying and have not yet uttered it to my children.
So after Aidan threw a hissy, she got out a plastic sewing kit thing. The ones you use a plastic needle on plastic screening I guess. Hers had a horse on it. Aidan wouldn't do it the proper way, just did it willy nilly. So I tried to get her to do it right, she cried and said she wanted to do her own pattern. So Judy got her a blank piece of plastic screening and some yarn and let her go. Judy said "She is just like Kyla, creative likes to make her own rules." To which I replied "Yeah, way to give her an excuse to be a brat." (The comment was more about my sil than Aidan)

Honestly I haven't talked much about my sil and for good reason. I have nothing good to say about her and I try not to be involved in any conversation about her. Every time my mil gives me an update on my sil I get pissed off, so it's best not to hear about it. All I can say is Thank God my brother married Rosy or the girls wouldn't have an Aunt. Anyways, I will say this about Kyla, she is selfish, manipulative, and adopted (thankfully no blood relation).

I will leave you with some pictures of the event.

Judy admits there is a reason she wasn't a teacher.

Can you see the sadness?

Lilly is interested we just need to find out how to do it properly.

Sophia didn't get a try.

There has been no point in keeping her clothes on while we are at the house. I had to change them everytime we went anywhere due to them being covered in dog fur.

that is sweet that she tried to teach them how to knit. :) good idea to use the ring. :) maybe you can google how to do it so it stays. :)

the other stuff is called plastic canvas... you can make some pretty interesting things with it. My mom and aunt used to make gingerbread houses and other fancy shmancy things. :)

I LOVE the pics! I think Delilah looks perfect just in a diaper! :) And pretty happy too!

i like your mom's saying. :) of course I didn't hear it before you said it so that could be why too. Trevor is big on I can't... i hate that crap. i would maybe say that to him, but he wouldn't get it yet. i just try to keep encouraging him with getting him more worked up or pissed off.... his seems like a stage though. :) AT least i hope... b/c his also comes with being really upset border line temper tantrum and all mopey. :(

only today and you head home right??? that will be nice to be at your own house... w/ your still NEW couch! :)

be safe traveling... I'm not sure when you are leaving.

I'll talk to you soon.

Jenn,

Yes, only today. Thankfully! I had it this morning when she corrected my parenting. I almost needed that bail money ;)

It won't stop when I get home, but will be better. I will have my mom as a buffer. Sometimes my mom can't believe some of the things Judy says and does. The next two weeks at home are going to be jam packed with family fun. Judy is there for a week of it, wooo hooo. We have visitors from Germany, another former exchange student and her mom. Plus my grandpa will be there for a week. His moods run hot and cold, his is over 80 after all. I haven't seen Nadja since Aidan was born, so it ought to be interesting. She and I were not the best of friends. She used to be my least favorite exchange student until Lena the german from 2yrs ago. But she is an adult now, so it should be better.

Oh this reminds me of when I was about their age and my grandmother taught me how to sew little Barbie quilts and do counted cross-stitch. Good memories!!

Hey, this looks like fun. I can't knit for squat but I will certainly take up the cause so Zeze and I can explore together.
