Look What Happened Yesterday...
I honestly can't tell you what I hit. None of us even saw it. When we stopped and looked around the van, the only evidence we found was some brownish fur in the cracks. After we surveyed the damage we went back to see if we could find the animal but it had run off into the woods. We were heading out to go shopping then dinner out and were on a back road on the way to the highway when I hit it. I was going about 55mph down a hill and just as we were heading back up I heard a very loud THUD. I know I didn't run over it, I didn't feel it go under the van. So now when I get home I have to have the insurance guy come look at it and give me the estimate of how much they think it will cost to repair. Whatever it costs, it will cost us $250 for our deductible. I am 99% sure it is all cosmetic and no structural damage. It's just a huge pain in my ass to have to deal with this right now. My meds must be working, I am not stressing out about this at all...yet. :P

that bites the big one. :(
damn!! i'm glad that it wasn't worse damage... but kind of weird that you don't know what it was or where it went... intersting.
glad you aren't stressing about it. stressing wouldn't do much to fix it or make the situation any easier to deal with. although i know that is a lot easier said than done. :) maybe i need some happy be stress free pills too. lol
have a good one... and no more hitting "things". :)

Well I almost hit a deer today. We were going the "shortcut" my mil likes to take. Which is actually 2miles longer and you can only go 35mph the whole way and half of the other way you can go 55mph, short cut my ass. Anyways off the subject.
We were going down a steep hill and I saw the damn thing bound out of the woods, slammed on my brakes, and still almost slid into it. No one was hurt and we didn't hit it. I told my mil if I had hit it I would have given up driving. I am so glad I am not a panicky driver, if these two things had happened while my mil was driving she would have rolled the van.
She did that a few years back, was changing lanes, noticed last min there was a car in her blindspot, over corrected, and rolled it. She really shouldn't be driving, she can't see well enough in my opinion. That's why I try to drive as much as possible when she is with me.
Oh my gosh! That sucks!
Ouch!!
wow. that is super scary. i'm glad that she wasn't driving... and not sure you should let her at all. :S I think at a certain age, or number of years since you got your license you should have to be re-tested. just my opinion. b/c i think people get relaxed and start to make a lot of bad choices or get uptight and do dumb things too... like over correcting.
i'm happy to hear you are all safe n sound and that you didn't hit the damn dear. :)
I'm not even going to mention the "shortcut"... wow!!

Jenn- I agree, but she passed the vision screening at the DMV just last year, so nothing I can do about it. Hers is not as much a doesn't see issue as it is a doesn't pay attention issue. She has been this way as long Kale can remember. It has gotten a little worse each year, but other than the one accident she has never had one before or after. And the only person in the accident was her alone. So I just continue to avoid letting her drive the kids or I as much as possible.
