We decided it would a wonderfully brilliant idea to drive 2hrs and 45mins to the Omaha Zoo instead of the 45mins to the perfectly wonderful KC Zoo. Omaha really is a nice zoo and we did have a lot of fun, so I really can only complain about having to drive home instead of ride home like last time I went. My mother decided 7am would be the perfect time to leave. Which meant I had to have everyone up at 6am and out the door no later than 6:45am. Not so easy with Judy and Aidan. Aidan is her daddy's daughter, and he happens to be his mother's son. I was able to get myself and all four girls ready before she was ready, the same thing usually happens when I go places with my husband. It's frustrating to say the least.
I did manage to convince my mom to let us stop for breakfast on the way. That knocked 20mins off my get ready time. Judy was bitchy as ever, she is not a morning person. Plus I think if she knows she has to be up early she frets about it all night long. She said she felt as if she just closed her eyes when I woke them up. Plus she said Lilly coughed for 45mins before she came down and got her some medication. Which I wish she would have woke me up, she gave her childrens nyquil. I have plain cough medication she could have given her, Lilly was really groggy all morning.
We left at 7:30am and were through the zoo's gates at 11am. Around 2pm we had a picnic lunch under a shade tree in the parking lot. We took Alan with us since Rosy or Jason couldn't come, I didn't want him to miss out on all the fun. He's a good baby. After lunch we wandered the zoo until 4pm, we rode the train, and left. On the way home we stopped for dinner at Famous Dave's, which kind of PO'd my mil and my grandpa. They both wanted to go to Cracker Barrel, but neither spoke up, so they were stuck going were mom, Aunt Patience, and I wanted to go. I am pretty sure everyone had a good time. Even though I wasn't sure my mil would be "good", it wasn't too bad today. Of course I ignored most of the negative that came out of her mouth or called her out on the negativity.
Best thing of all??? SHE GOES HOME IN LESS THAN 12 HOURS!!!

Jacki,
Basically the jist is that the plan before my husband was told he was going to Cuba we had it set up for the three older girls to fly to TN with my mil. When we found out Kale was leaving my mil had the brilliant idea that she should cancel the flights and ride out with all four of us to TN, where we would all spend a month with them. Instead of me coming after two weeks, staying a week, then her riding back with all of us and flying home.
In hindsight, my optimisim got the best of me. I should have said "No, I prefer to have two weeks of peace alone with the baby". In the past I have spent a month with them alone with the girls. But the last time I did that was when Aidan was Delilah's age, so I only had two kids.
We didn't make it the full 4wks, I had enough at 1wk and decided to stick it out for 3wks. I wouldn't have minded sitting around and hanging out at the in-laws if she hadn't promised the kids the world in a mth. After she promised and it became obvious to me those promises were going to go unfullfilled, I stepped in a planned some fun trips for us.
The reason we are doing so much now was not because of her. My parents have my grandfather and a former exchange student and her mother visiting. My mom is a "do'er" she likes to show visitors a good time. So busy we are. I go because she asks me to and I have nothing better to do.
