Sometimes Life Sucks (At least parts of it)

My van? Has more damage then they thought. The insurance company? Was asked by the body shop on TUESDAY to have an adjuster sent out to approve the new estimate. The adjuster? Didn't com until THIS morning. My van? Yeah, I won't get it back until the end of next week. That? Sucks major ass!

I have been driving my husbands car, a 2004 Chevy Cavalier. I? Hate this car with a passion. We took over payments for it back in 2005 from my grandfather. It worked out well for us since we only had one vehicle at the time and it was the only way we could have afforded that new of a car. Now? The driver's side window doesn't roll down, the driver's side door locks don't lock when you use the remote or the power lock button, and neither of the A/V outlets work. Plus it's a standard vehicle, which is fine, my last car (before both vans) was standard too, but for some reason Chevy Cavaliers are hard for me to drive standard. I had one in high school and had to have a pillow behind my back to reach the petals. It hasn't gotten much better since I have a hard time reaching the clutch in this one too. Also, while I can get all three car seats in the back? The kids can't buckle their own belts as they can't reach. So I have to buckle everyone in. Then this weekend Lilly comes home, so what am I to do? While it is not illegal to have her sit up front, I am not comfortable with her sitting up front. And on top of all of this I just found out my husband took rental off our car insurance for some unknown reason. Hell for all I remember it could have been me who told him to take it off. We had put it on previously because we only had one car.

Yesterday we went to the dentist, it was Sophia's first time out of the sound proof room. She did really well, there were only a couple of crying fits, pretty good for someone who is not quite 3 yet. Aidan didn't have any fits at all this time. We even were able to get good x-rays out of Sophia. They only did them on her at this age because we have a history of extra and missing teeth in our family. Aidan had her panoramic x-ray and turns out she only has one extra tooth and it is growing down. Which is good news since they sometimes grow up and then there is major surgery involved to remove it. She still may have to have surgery, but he is hoping it will grow down and out so it can be yanked. Neither had cavities and there were only a few spots that need more attention. And of course there was the usual scolding for not flossing their teeth, especially Aidan whose teeth are so close together you can barely get floss between them. I hate mouths, I really hate sticking my hands in there, but I guess I have to now that Kale is gone.

On our way out Sophia asked "Where's my lollipop?" to which I replied "Baby they don't give candy at the dentist, that would be counterproductive." That got a chuckle out of the dentist, who by the way was my dentist as a child. His office is so cool, they have flat panel tv's above every chair and the kids get ear phones and sunglasses to wear while he works. I am sure most kids dentist offices are like this nowadays. We've been very lucky (or diligent with brushing) that none of the kids have even had a suspected cavity yet. I think it has to do with the fact that my kids don't get soda hardly ever and they get candy on a limited basis. I guess I can't brag yet, at least not until after Lilly's appointment on Monday. :P I am just happy they seem to have their daddy's strong teeth, he's only ever had one cavity and that was like 6mths ago. I however have had so much work done and am in need of tons more.

It's Friday! Which means nothing to me during the summer :P

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

wow. that is great that the girls do so well at the dentist!!

I'm a horrible mother... especaillyf or being a dental assistant before having children, I haven't taken my son to the dentist yet... he will be 5 the end of Sept. ugh!! and the girls should go too. We'll see. I should work on this over the summer to get it over with before school.

bad mommy. bad! :P

that is great that there are no cavities!! :) good for them and you!! :)

sucky about the van!! that would make me nuts! and i totally agree with you about the kids in the front seat. i tell trevor he has to be over 12 to sit there, that it is the law... although it isn't NY law, it is mine. plus he is still in a booster seat so it isn't really an option.

i hope they surprise you and get your van done before they said they would. doubtful, i know, but a girl can hope. lol

Bryan just left with Trevor to go to a big pro-National motocross race so I am here without a vehicle and it sucks. not that i'd be going any where anyway, but just to have the option is nice... when i don't have a vehicle then i feel really TRAPPED and stuck, and I hate it... just seeing it sit in the driveway makes me happy!! :)

oh well. i think later my parents are going to pick us up and bring us over to their house to spend the day and have dinner and all that. :) it'll be nice to get out of the house some. :)

i'm rambling... sorry!!

Jenn, I used to feel the same way when we only had one car and Kale had it, trapped. Even if I don't go anywhere it's nice to know I can.

It took me a long time before I took my kids, it was horrible. Especially since the bi-annual visits are free with our insurance. I am just extremely lucky none of them had cavities, the other issues are genetic and getting them to a dentist sooner wouldn't have changed a thing.

Hope you had fun with your parents!

Back in the day, they used to pass out lollipops after a dental visit. Go figure.
