I was reading this story a few minutes ago and had to laugh my ass off. I have four daughters and I have NEVER been on a low calorie diet. Well maybe around the time Aidan was conceived, but that was because I was dieting before I decided to get pregnant. Other than I have never been one to eat a low calorie diet, never. The story is basically about a study some scientist did on 740 first time mom's that didn't know the sex of their baby. It said that the mother's who at low cal diet during the time of conception were more likely to have a girl. High cal and those who ate a lot of cereal or a sugary breakfast, boys. Yeah I call bullshit on this study. I don't think your food intake has that much to do with the sex of your baby. If it did, according to their study I should have at least 3 boys.
Just thought I'd share an interesting story. Wordless Wednesday is below.

I'm not saying they're right about the low calorie thing, but diet can certainly effect it in some way. There are so many other factors though. First time moms are more likely to have a boy, and if they stay monogomous a girl usually follows. That has to do with the ph of the woman's... err... stuff and they way it adjusts to her partners sperm over time. the x sperms and y sperms have different ph's. So diet can influence the ph too, but it's probably more to do with acid and such than calories.
Damn maybe my dad was right and my body does hate and kill all the male sperm! :P
I used to diet to conceive a girl, girl sperm are slower but more resilient and can survive in a more acidic environment whereas male sperm prefer a alkaline environment. I took supplements to make my body more acidic and support the female sperm, I also had sex farther out from my actual ovulation date since male sperm die quicker than female. There are also certain positions that are better for male or female sperm. All these things can sway the odds and although it made for some very difficult and unenjoyable sex we were successful in having a girl.
So, yeah I think the high calorie or low calorie diet is crap but I do think that diet can affect the outcome, it did for us.
Well the acidic thing explains three out of my four daughters, I drink a LOT of soda. But that doesn't explain Aidan, I had stopped drink soda for almost 2yrs before she was conceived and I was only drinking water. And if you know me, you know I am picky as hell so I was dieting then eating mostly chicken breasts and rice, so I don't think the environment was acidic unless of course it always is. So I am sure diet as a little to do with gender, but obviously not everything. Damn they should have been studying me. ;P
Oh and everyone needs to keep this quiet please, my husband doesn't need to know it's actually my fault and not his we have all girls. :P
Acidic foods don't necessarily makes your body acidic, its really complicated but the sperm is still the reason you have a boy or a girl so I'd still categorize that as partly his fault...LOL.
Boy I feel dumb about this subject, unusual feeling for me and I am not fond of it. :P
Yeah I will still "blame" him. I actually don't care, I am happy with my four girls and I really wouldn't want it any other way. Just clearing that up for people who may think I have regrets.
