4th of July: Part One

As you can see from the pictures above, Abby and Sophia got along famously. As did all the kids, I wasn't worried about the older kids they always got along before, but you never know what 2 1/2 years of being apart will do. Towards the end of our two years together in MA they really started behaving more like cousins than friends, occasionally fighting but generally getting along.
K and family decided to push on through the night, arriving here at a little before 2am. I was sleeping on the couch when they knocked, Asher asked K if she was sure this was the right place. This was after I had already let him in, taken the box he was holding, said hello to him and Mary. After all that he still went out to the van to ask her if she was sure this was the right house. :P We didn't spend much time catching up, we were all too tired. I sent Lilly to my bed, K and Abby took her full size bed in the room with Aidan, Mary (her mom) was in the office/art room on a full size elevated air mattress I borrowed from Jason & Rosy, and the boys were put up on a full size air mattress in the playroom. It's a small house, made smaller by the amount of people, but it all worked out.
The next morning I let them sleep until after 8am, even though I was up at 7am with Delilah and it killed me to be quiet and patient for that long. Finally I guess K's sister texted her at 8:30am and that woke Aidan and Abby. K gave Abby and Sophia a bath, then we fed them what I had. Even though I had just been to the grocery store the night before, I didn't get breakfast stuff. I don't do breakfast much and the kids do cereal, frozen waffles, or pop tarts. I had thought they wouldn't be there for breakfast otherwise I would have gotten stuff to make them a good breakfast. The boys, Abby, and Mary made due with what I had and K and I skipped breakfast all together.
After we were finally showered and around K and I went to do what we do best....SHOP! My mom offered to take Delilah for me since she already had Alan at her house. And K volunteered Mary to watch the older four kids, so it was us and the 2yr olds. We were going to the Mall of the Great Plains in Olathe, I had been there with Judy and Children's Place was having a huge sale K was interested in going to. We found a ton of jeans for $2.99 a pair! I bought 10 pair for just around $30! I am always on the look out for cheap jeans for winter.
Just before we arrived at the mall Abby said she had to potty, so as soon as we got to the mall we hoofed it to the bathroom. We just weren't fast enough, poor girl. We had to wash her dress in the sink and dry it under the hand dryer. That's why she wasn't wearing her dress in the last picture. After hitting the Children's Place sale we went to Carter's to see if we could find a 4th of July outfit in Alan's size. Rosy decided too late she wanted one and they were all out of 12mth outfits everywhere. No luck there. After the mall we had a nice lunch at Panera Bread (one of our favs from MA) then headed home to get everyone ready to go to my mom's.
Part 2 tomorrow.
